Calvary Episcopal Church is a community of faith in Summit, New Jersey. We seek to be a sacred space for the greater Summit community, bringing the heart of Christ into the heart of the city. We welcome all without regard to religious affiliation, and want to provide a place for all people to deepen their faith and encounter God. We offer a broad array of spiritual, educational, artistic, civic engagement, and service opportunities to people in and around Summit. We invite everyone to experience the beauty of holiness and the holiness of beauty in art and music through concerts, worship, and other special events.

If you are an Episcopalian:
If you are a member of another Episcopal congregation, or were ever confirmed in an Episcopal Church, you can transfer your membership. Provide our parish office with the name and location of the church and the approximate dates of your membership. We will send for a letter of transfer, or will be happy to assist you in contacting your previous parish.

If you are from another province of the Anglican Communion:
If you were Confirmed Anglican by another province of the Anglican Communion (for example:, the Church of England or the Nippon Sei Ko Kai–the Episcopal Church in Japan), provide the parish office with your date and place of birth, your baptismal date and place, and your Confirmation date, place and bishop.

If you are a member of another Christian denomination:
If you were Baptized with water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in any Christian denomination, you may become a “Baptized member” of Calvary Church. Just provide the parish office with your birth date and place and your baptismal date and place.

If you have not been baptized:
Call the parish office or speak with the rector to arrange a Baptism. Baptisms are done at regularly scheduled services on the feast days specified by The Book of Common Prayer (Baptism of Our Lord, Easter Eve, Pentecost, and All Saints), and occasionally on other Sundays under special circumstances. Anyone Baptized at Calvary Church is a “Baptized member.”

If you wish to be Confirmed or Received:
Youth Confirmation classes and adult inquirers’ classes are offered each year. Persons confirmed in a denomination in the apostolic succession (e.g., Roman Catholic) are received by the bishop rather than confirmed. Speak with our clergy if you are interested in confirmation or reception.
